Water Gun Gender Reveal

As soon as we found out we were pregnant I instantly began daydreaming whether baby Meenach would be a little boy or girl. We knew our friends and family wouldn’t be able to travel for a gender reveal so we wanted to do something that would be engaging for everyone and have some anticipation and excitement to it. I also wanted something a little more unique than a smoke bomb. After browsing Pinterest forever I stumbled upon an interactive gender reveal that I knew Jett would be excited to do. Two words- water guns.

Water Gun Gender Reveal - Warrior Wife Life

This is not the picture-perfect gender reveal I had concocted in my mind, but it was amazing nonetheless. Jett had been working late and we were too eager to wait for a weekend to do the reveal. So one night I drove the 1.5 hours straight from Wilmington(where I work) to Camp LeJeune and we had a friend help set this gender reveal up in the parking lot of the warehouse where Jett works.

The set-up for this gender reveal is super simple and super fun! Let’s be honest, anything involving guns typically excites guys.

What you need

  • An envelope from your doctor containing the baby’s gender
  • One white onesie
  • Painter’s Tape
  • Two water guns (I got mine from the dollar store in a pack of three)
  • Pink and blue fabric paint (Again, I found this at Dollar Tree)
  • Water
  • Something to affix the onesie too (I was hoping for a pretty tree but we had to make do with this random pallet from the parking lot)
  • Nails or pins to hold the onesie in place

Steps

  1. Decorate your onesie! I’ve seen some people write their last name or “Baby Meenach” in white puffy paint on the front of the onesie but I didn’t trust my handwriting so I opted to create an “M” with the Painter’s Tape. You could also get something embroidered or heat-pressed on if you have time.
  2. Affix the onesie onto something you don’t mind getting paint on. Pin the onesie at about chest height.
  3.  Have a friend open the letter from your doctor and add the fabric paint indicative of your baby’s gender to the water guns. In order for the fabric paint to properly squirt out of the water gun, you do need to water it down a bit. We used about a 1-to-1 ratio of paint to water. We added the paint and water straight into the guns and shook the guns to mix it up.
  4. Ready, aim, FIRE!
