May 31st, 2015, Jett walked into the Norfolk, Virginia Chili’s where I was working.
It was an early Sunday morning and his group of friends were some of our first customers. I remember telling a coworker how cute the guy in the sunglasses was. Well, that guy-Jett, ended up leaving his number on the back of his receipt for me.
I had worked at Chili’s for over five years during college and post-grad. My alma mater, Old Dominion University, is a few miles from Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval station. So, most of our customers were military. Now, I’m not trying to be cocky or anything but it was very common for these guys to leave their numbers for the waitresses at this Chili’s.
These guys were new to town, often came in alone and were just looking for someone to talk too. In five years I got a lot of numbers. In five years I only texted two people back, Jett was one of them.
He left his number for me on a Sunday and we went out on our first date the very next day. The beginning of our relationship was such a crazy whirlwind, I was sure I was living out a Nicholas Sparks novel.
At the time, I had no idea what was to come of this relationship. Before I met Jett, I had decided that I would be single for a while to focus on myself. I had recently graduated college and was very ambitious about breaking into my career field. I wasn’t trying to think about our future too much, I wanted to enjoy the crazy ride that our relationship started out on. I knew even if this relationship ended that it was going to be a story I would always enjoy looking back on.
Four years later and I’m almost Mrs. Anastasia Meenach. No longer a waitress, but a warrior wife.
I’m excited to begin this journey and looking forward to connecting with other warrior wives.
‘Til next time,
Future Warrior Wife
