Pre-Wedding Q&A

I was scrolling through TheKnot.com, which is my usual these days when I stumbled upon a pre-wedding Q&A they did and instantly thought this would be a perfect activity for Jett and me to do to get this blog going!

Enjoy!

How did you first meet?
A: I was Jett’s server at Chili’s! He left his digits on a receipt and I texted him back. The funniest thing is he came in for lunch AND dinner that day apparently! He left his number for me during the lunch shift and I was working a double so I was still there when he came back in at dinner and didn’t even know it! Read more about how we met here!

J: She was my waitress at Chili’s.

When/How did you first fall in love with your fiancé?
A: I immediately got butterflies when I saw Jett walk into Chili’s and was on a high through our entire first few weeks of dating. Heck- I took an 18-hour greyhound bus ride to go visit him and meet his parents in Georgia after only knowing him for about five weeks! I would say that is the weekend that I started to fall for Jett. I even accidentally said “I love you” while we were out on jetskis!

J: I knew I loved her on the first date when we were at dinner.

What’s the most memorable date you’ve had?
A: All of our dates are memorable. Because we’re long distance we don’t have as many “dates” as your typical couple and every date we do have is something we hold onto for weeks sometimes months at a time until the next one comes along. Jett always surprises me with dates that I wouldn’t think he is interested in. One year he told me to bring a fancy dress and we ended up going to 560 at the top of Reunion Tower in Dallas. For his birthday this past year, we did a wine & design night.

J: Our first one because everything was perfect.

What quality do you most admire about the other?
A: I love how genuine Jett is. He is utterly himself and has the biggest heart. He loves his family, especially his niece Bella and from the beginning I’ve admired that so much and look forward to seeing him with our future family. Jett also texts my friends a lot and I love that about him. He cares about me so deeply and invests in my relationships too.

J: How hard she works for everything no matter how small the task may be.

What has been the most fun detail of your wedding to plan?
A: I’ve really enjoyed all the little details. I’ve created a lot of the print materials and spent a lot of time picking out the gifts for our parents. I’m very excited about our wedding favors- but that will be another post!

J: Honestly, the honeymoon because we both wanted to visit Europe so bad. It’s nice for both of us to be able to plan that.

What has been the most difficult detail of your wedding to agree on?
A: Jett is such a rule follower. He wouldn’t wear his marine camis to our engagement shoot because you’re not supposed to wear them off base. He won’t wear special Star Wars socks with his uniform on our wedding day because it’s against the dress code. Ultimately, these things aren’t make or break details. I want Jett to enjoy this day and have a say in some of the details but he won’t break the rules and it’s lead to some disagreement.

J: We honestly have agreed on everything. We’ve never really butted heads on anything.

What do you look most forward to the wedding day, the wedding night, the honeymoon?
A: Honestly, I’m just looking forward to being with Jett. Distance is hard. Originally, we had planned on living together in September but the military has changed our plans. I just miss Jett a lot and am excited to spend almost three weeks with him!

J: Probably the honeymoon.

What are you most excited about on your wedding day?
A: I’m excited to be surrounded by our families and friends and to get to have a big party with everyone! Also, I’m excited to see Jett and my dad cry like big babies 🙂

J: Seeing her walk down the aisle.

What are you most nervous about your wedding day?
A: I’m nervous that I’m going to trip. If you know me, you know that’s not far-fetched at all. Also, I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to risk drinking my favorite thing ever- red wine.

J: I don’t want to cry so I’m nervous because I’m sure I will.

What advice would you give to other engaged couples who are planning a wedding?
A: Enjoy the planning! This is part of the wedding and as stressful as it can be right now, once it’s over- it’s over. Enjoy every little thing. I would also recommend that if you book a very popular date, say a Saturday in October, don’t wait too long to book your vendors. Just having a venue isn’t enough, the good DJs, hair artists, and makeup artists will be booked too.

J: Say yes to whatever the bride wants. It makes your life easier.

What are you looking forward to as newlyweds?
A: I can’t wait to officially live together. It’s been a long time comin’.

J: Even though we won’t be living together right away, I’m excited to start our life together as a family.

Thoughts on how you will feel when it’s over?
A: I think I’m going to be sad. It’s going to be hard coming back to Georgia without my husband. Luckily, Thanksgiving and the holidays are right around the corner. I think the real tough part will be after the new year.

J: Sad it’s over and the wedding couldn’t go longer into the night.

One thing you’re looking forward to in marriage?
A: I’m looking forward to doing life with Jett. This man is literally the best friend I’ve ever had in my entire life. I can’t wait to do all the small minuscule things most couples get to do together likes the dishes.

J: Doing the small things together like shopping or just running errands.

What is one thing you would like your fiancé to know a few days out from being married?
A: Jett, still to this day I can’t believe that you left your number for me. I 100% believe that was an act of God and I am so grateful. I am so proud to be part of your life and I’m so lucky to have someone as supportive as you by my side. I can’t wait for our forever to begin.

J: Well, she already knows I’m gonna try my best at not being a slob when we live together. And I’m probably gonna fail miserably.
