• Wedding Wednesday | The Registry

I know what you’re thinking, “It’s time to break out that price gun!” I hate to disappoint you, but a lot of places just give you an iPhone these days to scan items into your registry. Jett was not amused by this fact. Registries are a pretty tough topic to write about because everyone is in a different life stage when they get married. You may be getting married straight out of college where your roommates previously had everything, in which case you need a lot of stuff- most importantly the basics. You may be getting married after living on your own for a while, so maybe you don’t need…

  • Doing Distance

Long distance. If you’re in a relationship with someone in the military, it’s very likely you’re going to experience a long distance relationship at some point in time. Maybe it’s for training, maybe it’s a deployment, either way, it’s pretty common in the military. Jett and I have been long distance since the very beginning and still are. Yupp, you read that right. We are married and in a long distance relationship.

  • Wedding Wednesday | Vendors 101

I feel like I’ve covered so much wedding stuff already, but then I realize there’s still so much to go! If you’ve missed a few of my Wedding Wednesday posts you can find them all under the “Blog” tab and then under the “Wedding Wednesday” category. Today’s topic- wedding vendors. Hopefully, you can learn a few lessons from my mistakes! If you read our 2018 Recap you have already seen some of our vendors. Bless everyone who is planning a destination wedding or planning apart from your fiancé. And those of you who are doing both… you’re crazy. But, that’s what Jett and I had to do so like I said,…

  • Wedding Wednesday | Guest List

Guest lists, in general, are hard but especially for a military couple with military friends. There’s a reason everyone gets married right after graduation, training or deployments- because there’s no other time to get hitched!

  • Wedding Wednesday | The Dress

The dreaded dress shopping. Surprisingly, even though I tried on probably 25 dresses, it really wasn’t that bad. In typical military fashion, it’s not easy to get your friends AND family together for something. I wasn’t able to have most of my bridesmaids present for my dress shopping. I was lucky enough to have my mother, future mother-in-law, and sister in attendance. I planned my dress shopping around Jett’s graduation from The Basic School when both our families would be in town together.

  • Military Gift Guide – For His Family

The holidays are getting closer and closer! I’m pretty big on gifts and really enjoy selecting just the right gift for just the right person. Out of all the Christmas’ Jett and I have shared, my favorite was last year. I felt like I really nailed the gifts for his family.

  • Wedding Wednesday | Bridesmaid Proposal

I figured Wedding Wednesday would make the most sense if it went in chronological order, right? Plus, there are so many engagements around the holiday season that this series might appeal to some non-MilSo ladies. So, you’re ENGAGED! Woohoo! First things first- go get your gals! My girlfriends are all over the country so asking them to be my bridesmaids in person was out of the question. I’m a very extra person though so I knew I wanted to create some sort of gift or box for them. I would recommend getting the box first, that way you can see how much actually fits in it before buying things. Which…

  • Wedding Wednesday

I’ve officially been Mrs. Meenach for over a month now and married life is great! Obviously, it would be better if Jett and I lived together, but I am grateful for the amount of time we’ve been able to spend together during our first month of marriage. Being married is great- I cannot stop reminiscing over our wedding. If you know me this is going to be really hard to believe, but I never had a dream wedding planned out. I always hoped to get married one day but those hopes never really included any big plans for a wedding. Anyway, this wedding was like a dream. Everything was perfect…

  • Creating A Community

By Jen Heisel I’m not your typical Marine Corps spouse. I’ve never been through a PCS and have never moved to be with my husband (miraculously, he’s only ever been stationed in San Diego, and we met six months after I moved here). I don’t have kids and I work full-time. I had a life that existed before my husband and one that still exists quite separately from the military. I love my civilian life, my civilian friends, my civilian house in my civilian neighborhood and my civilian job. But this military life is weird. There are no two ways about it. You could go days without hearing from your…

  • Military Gift Guide – For Him

This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may make a commission if you click on one. It’s hard for me to believe that the holidays are just around the corner, mostly because I’ve spent the last three weeks living in a fairytale consisting of our wedding and honeymoon! If you’re anything like me you want to get a jump on holiday shopping- especially because it takes a while to find just the right gift for your guy. Jett and I are going on four Christmas’ together now and I felt an obligation to create a gift guide for other MilSos out there who may be celebrating their first…
