Military Gift Guide – For His Family

The holidays are getting closer and closer! I’m pretty big on gifts and really enjoy selecting just the right gift for just the right person. Out of all the Christmas’ Jett and I have shared, my favorite was last year. I felt like I really nailed the gifts for his family.

Personalized Dog Tags

  • Jett graduated from the Naval Academy in May of 2017 and began TBS in October of 2017. He had received his official marine dog tags during this time. At the same time, one of my friends from a MilSo Bible Study was going through a deployment with her husband. She had mentioned how she wears a copy of her husband’s dog tags around her neck 24/7 because whenever she starts to miss him she can just hold the dog tags and know that wherever he is, whatever he is doing, he is wearing his too. I thought this would be a perfect gift for Jett’s family as he started his military journey and ordered a set of dog tags for his entire family.
  • I found a set of two military dog tags with silencers on eBay for $6 that looked just like Jett’s. I ordered 10 for Jett’s family with the inscription “J. M. Meenach USMC.” I found some of the jewelry box holders at the dollar store to put them in, but organza or burlap bags would have been cute too. For Jett’s niece, we wrapped her dog tag around a stuffed animal. I held these gifts off to the side so everyone could open them together towards the end. It was a pretty emotional gift.

Spirit Gear

  • Jett’s whole family is so proud and supportive of Jett’s career. While he was in the Naval Academy they had Navy EVERYTHING. So when he became a Marine, they needed new stuff! I remember his Dad having a paracord Navy bracelet, so I found this great Marine one on Etsy.
  • Amazon has a lot of very affordable spirit gear that would be perfect for his mom, sisters, nieces etc. These are my two favs that actually ended up on my Christmas list this year!
