I love holidays. Give me something to celebrate and I’m going to go all out! I put extra effort into Father’s Day because this is Jett’s first Father’s Day so I wanted to make a big deal out of it and it’s my first Father’s Day without my Dad so I needed a distraction.
DAD Photoshoot
I’ve always loved the pictures of kids holding letters spelling out “Mom” or “Dad” and the idea that you have another photoshoot every year to show growth. Usually people buy wooden letters from Walmart or a craft store but I have some stencils so I figured I would make my own.
Side note, I love these stencils. I used them to make a Welcome sign for our front door, Monogramed a wood slice cheeseboard and more. They’re a great investment! I’m actually thinking about monogramming a pair of plain cornhole boards we have with them next.
I used an old cereal box, white paint and a sponge brush from the dollar store.
Viola! Beautiful letters that took about 5 minutes to make plus, I was able to reuse a cereal box! Now you’ve got a sustainable, sentimental gift. I took a variety of pictures, one set where JJ posed with the individual letters and then another set where he posed with the whole word/phrase.
DIY Yoda Best Dad Craft
When I saw these types of crafts on Pinterest I knew I had to make one for Jett, especially because it matched the Valentine’s Day present I got him from SuchGiftsCo on etsy.com.
I downloaded a free Star Wars font and printed “YODA BEST DAD” on a 5×7 piece of cardstock. I painted JJ’s foot, pressed it to the paper and then added the other details and Ta Da! A cute print for Jett to keep on his desk at work. You can snag a 5×7 frame from the dollar store to complete this DIY gift.
Oh yeah, and I got Jett three Father’s Day cards! One from me, JJ and the doggos.
